Skin as container of self. One skin, which we shed and is not the same as yesterday.
Metaphorical selves represented by clothing – layers of them.
In this 24 hour performance I will bring to ‘life’ past performances as in a continuation or reincarnation. The central female figure of these pieces engages in a variety of actions – folding, unfolding, hanging, chopping, sewing, and tearing. My past work is the starting point for the creation of new in which I seek to transform the personas I created by shining new light on them.

Polina is a visual and performance artist, working primarily in performance art, drawing, photo and video. In her work she constructs and deconstructs images and ideas of gender and multiculturalism using autobiography, psychology, mythology, and anthropology. She has received commissions from The Queens Council of the Arts, El Museo del Barrio and The Smithsonian’s Museum of the American Indian.
Polina is the founder of Avocado Pit, an artist initiative that promotes multidisciplinary art education in communities. She received a Master in Fine Arts and Art and Design Education from Pratt Institute
