OTHER THAN DESIGNATED SPOT
Friday, May 10th, 6 PM - Saturday, May 11th, 6 PM
This Friday, Glasshouse will enter the public sphere as Lital Dotan and Eyal Perry take to the streets. In this nomadic 24 hour performance, Lital and Eyal will start from their home and will journey, by foot, to locations across New York City. At sites such as the Williamsburg Bridge, Zuccotti Park, and the Bank of America on Broadway and W 53rd Street, Lital will explore the act of hovering for 2 hour segments.
However, when Lital isn’t defying gravity at each set destination, the performance will continue; during these transitions the structure will relax and the line between art and life will blur. Lital and Eyal may stop for a beer, dance at an impromptu party they find along the way, or the two may go their separate ways. ”OTHER THAN DESIGNATED SPOT” will examine the architecture of time, allowing audience roles to shift as they become involved with constructed and deconstructed modes of time.
As the title suggests, the performance relates to police vocabulary and recent developments by the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation to limit and control freedom of expression in the public sphere. Become a part of the performance and support First Amendment rights by stopping by one of the locations during their designated times, which are listed below:
* 7-9 pm: Williamsburg Bridge (at center of North side)
* 12-2 am: Zuccotti Park
* 6-8 am: Broadway & w53rd street
* 1-3 pm: Williamsburg Bridge (at center of South side)
* And everything in between.
Come join us, we will do the hovering, you can do the rest
