Vincent Tiley completed his BFA in 2010 from the Maryland Institute College of Art where he began experimenting with performance with the DIY performance and theater group at the CopyCat theater. After graduation, Tiley moved from Baltimore back to his home town of Charleston WV where he briefly ran CRYSTALTOOTH Gallery as part of a local renaissance movement for the economically devastated downtown area. CRYSTALTOOTH rapidly became a a visible queer safe space in a town on the northern most border of the American Bible belt. Many of the artists and designers local to Charleston represented at the gallery moved on to open their own spaces, some of which are living in NYC today. Vincent completed his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2013. While in Chicago he became fast friends with the drag queen Pearl who he collaborated with to create costumes and performances which strongly influenced the development of Tiley's work. Vincent Tiley currently lives in Bushwick.
