Saturday, December 19, 2009 7pm
Sarah Steinwachs is a Philadelphia based artist, working with cut-paper installations. During her residency at The Glasshouse, as a collaborative project, Steinwachs will create an installation of superimposed large scale cut-paper paintings created from Eyal Perry's photographs.
She will also lecture at the Bezalel Academy and work with students of the Art faculty in Jerusalem.
Steinwachs' lace-like patterns continually comment on being a female whose interest lie in modern-minimalist set of ideas. She is using a process similar to traditional women's craft that contradicts the notion of the structural grid she is creating. Thus her work contains a constant struggle between this decorative process and the notion of the grid format.
Steinwachs is an assistant professor at Drexel University, Philadelphia Her works have been presented in Europe and the US, and this will be her first presentation in Tel Aviv.
